A goldfish, they say, has no hiding place. Hon Mrs Amaka Ugwueze, member representing Isiuzo Local Government Area in Enugu State House of Assembly is a goldfish. For the past one year, she has been selfless in meeting the needs of her constituents. Targeting education, women, youths, skills acquisition and critical infrastructure, her activities have touched all the 11 electoral wards of the Local Government with visible results.

On Wednesday, 27th April, her efforts were rewarded with a well-deserved award by Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Enugu East Senatorial Zone as “The Most Youth-friendly Legislator of the Year.”

Ohaneze did their groundwork very well. Thirty-three brilliant but financially challenged students, three from each of the 11 electoral wards in Isiuzo, are on her scholarship, from SS3 to university level. This will be an annual event. This means that in four years at least 132 youths would be on her scholarship.

She sponsored 11 youths in various vocations of their choice by paying for the training and accommodation and empowered them to take off at the end of the training. This too will be an annual event.

Last December, she sensitized Isiuzo Youths on the dangers of Drugs Abuse, with emphasis on Mkpurummiri. After the seminar, she gave each of them N5000 as a Christmas gift. The youths said they never had such an uplifting experience.

And presently, she has empowered the Ikem Youths to sensitize the populace on the need to register and get their permanent voter’s card, PVC, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Similarly, on 26th February, Hon Mrs Ugwueze was honoured by Enugu State Post-Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) “For Her Outstanding Contributions and Positive Impact on Human Capital/Structural Development in PPSMB.” The award was presented on Sunday 20th March, 2022 while celebrating Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s birthday.
